Kids International Dental Service.

Updated: Feb 4

KIDS is a volunteer dental service that visits Cambodia once a year to offer dental assessment and treatment to underprivileged kids.

The fundamental mission of Kids International Dental Services (KIDS) is to provide pro-bono dental care to impoverished children in developing countries. Other aspects of our mission include: (a) providing a platform for young dental professionals to perform community service worldwide, (b) providing an opportunity for young adults to participate in social service and encourage them to innovate projects to serve disadvantaged youths in developing areas of the world.

Kids International Dental Service (KIDS) is a nonprofit organization that provides free dental care to children in underserved communities around the world. Founded by Dr. Bob Renner, a pediatric dentist from California, KIDS has been operating since 2001 and has served over 100,000 children in countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Vietnam and more. KIDS volunteers travel to remote areas where access to dental services is limited or nonexistent, and provide preventive and restorative treatments, oral hygiene education, and dental supplies. KIDS also trains local health workers and teachers to continue the dental care program after the volunteers leave. KIDS' mission is to improve the oral health and well-being of children in need and to empower them to smile with confidence.

Bernie and Barbara, retired teachers have been long-standing members of the team and will be sadly missed when they choose to retire, hopefully not for a few years yet. They started by volunteering in Cambodia, where they saw the dire need for dental services among the poor and rural communities.
